Sgr B2
(Sagittarius B2)
(GMC near the galactic center)
Sgr B2 (Sagittarius B2) is a giant molecular cloud (GMC)
about 120 pc from Sag A*,
the Milky Way's central supermassive black hole (SMBH).
Sgr B2 is about 45 pc across, very dense
for such a cloud, and hosts significant
star formation. X-rays from
it are interpreted as a response to a
past outburst of gamma rays from Sag A*.
