SARAS
(Shaped Antenna measurement of the background Radio Spectrum)
(survey aiming at highly-redshifted 21-cm detection)
SARAS
(Shaped Antenna measurement of the background Radio Spectrum)
is a radio survey aimed at detecting
highly redshifted 21-cm line from neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) during
the epoch of reionization (EOR).
It measures the radio background by frequency in the general
vicinity of 100 MHz, looking for a bump that could be the effects of
the 21 cm line (redshifted) from the EOR and before.
The measurement has been repeated with equipment improvements,
the three generations termed SARAS 1, SARAS 2 and SARAS 3.
The latter attempted to reproduce the positive results found by
EDGES, but contradicts them.
