(survey aiming at highly-redshifted 21-cm detection)

SARAS (Shaped Antenna measurement of the background Radio Spectrum) is a radio survey aimed at detecting highly redshifted 21-cm line from neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) during the epoch of reionization (EOR). It measures the radio background by frequency in the general vicinity of 100 MHz, looking for a bump that could be the effects of the 21-cm line (redshifted) from the EOR and before. The measurement has been repeated with equipment improvements, the three generations termed SARAS 1, SARAS 2 and SARAS 3. The latter attempted to reproduce the positive results found by EDGES, but contradicts them.
