(Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer, XTE, X-ray Timing Explorer, Explorer 69)
(space mission to time X-ray variations)

RXTE (or Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer or earlier, XTE or X-ray Timing Explorer) was a NASA Medium-class Explorer Program (MIDEX) X-ray space mission in operation from 1995 to 2016. Its goal was observing X-rays from compact objects (such as X-ray pulsars) including timing information of their pulses and variation. Instruments:

While in operation, it also carried out an X-ray slew survey.
