Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex

(Ophiuchus Molecular Cloud)
(nebula that is a nearby star-forming region)

Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex (or Ophiuchus Molecular Cloud) is a dark nebula a degree south of the star Rho Ophiuchi in the constellation Ophiuchus. It is a star-forming region about 140 parsecs from here. Characteristics:

The designator prefix ROX, used for some stars within the cloud complex, stands for Rho Ophiuchi X-ray source, and ROXs for the optical counterpart to such a source.
