OSAM-1 (earlier called Restore-L) was a NASA robot space mission canceled in 2024 during development that began in 2016. It was aimed at servicing and refueling an existing satellite. At time of OSAM-1's cancellation, the target for service was Landsat 7, which had been in service since 1999, but now has been out of service since communication was lost in 2025. OSAM-1 was a prototype of the technologies, in anticipation of performing this type of service regularly. At the time of its cancellation, launch was to be in 2026 at the earliest.
OSAM-1 is part of NASA's On-Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (OSAM) program. Another OSAM satellite is OSAM-2 (aka Archinaut), was intended to prototype on-site (i.e., in space) 3D-printing-based construction. After some development, the OSAM-2 flight was canceled.
