Palomar Four-filter Survey
(Hale telescope survey aimed at discovering high-redshift quasars)
I use the term Palomar Four-filter Survey
for an astronomical survey of about 1990
carried out with the Four-shooter spectrograph/camera
on the Hale Telescope,
aimed at discovering high-redshift quasars.
Photographs were taken with four custom filters designed
to catch redshifted H-alpha emission lines
with a P Cygni profile
(an odd shape, characteristic of the star P Cygni,
but expected to be visible in some quasars)
and the designator "PC" might be taken from this.
