Milky Way Mapper
(MWM)
(SDSS spectrographic survey of Milky Way stars)
Milky Way Mapper (MWM) is one of the three sub-surveys
of SDSS-V (the current stage of SDSS, begun in 2020),
which uses the
SDSS spectrographs to collect spectrography on millions of stars.
It uses BOSS Spectrographs (pair of
multi-object spectrographs with robotic fiber positioners)
and APOGEE spectrographs (similar)
developed for SDSS-III, which produce a higher spectral resolution
and wavelength-range than Gaia's spectrograph.
