The Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIR) is a German astrophysics research institution that is part of the Max Planck Society. It was founded in 1972 and is located in Bonn, Germany, carrying out research using radio astronomy, including very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) and millimeter/submillimeter astronomy. It operates a graduate program in cooperation with the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne.
