The Milky Way galaxy subgroup consists of the Milky Way
and its satellite galaxies. Exact lists and counts vary because
questions remain regarding the classification of the
object, i.e., galaxy
versus globular cluster or stellar stream, etc.,
and future observation may improve estimates of distances and velocity,
which are used to determine whether a galaxy is a Milky Way satellite.
Current lists have about 80 galaxies, and discoveries continue.
