Milkomeda

(Milkdromeda)
(future galaxy resulting from merger of Milky Way and Andromeda)

Milkomeda (aka Milkdromeda) is a nickname given to a future galaxy resulting from the future Andromeda-Milky Way collision, the galaxy merger of the Milky Way and Andromeda (M31). This is expected to occur in about 4.5 gigayears, given their trajectories and masses. More recent analysis and simulations claim that the collision and merger may not occur, with about 50% probability.
