Medium Deep Survey

(MDS, HST MDS)
(survey to find galaxies in HST WFPC2 images)

The Medium Deep Survey (MDS) was a 1990s survey to locate distant galaxies in Hubble Space Telescope (HST) WFPC2 (successor to WF/PC) images taken for other purposes.

The same name and abbreviation (Medium Deep Survey, MDS) has been used for a Pan-STARRS survey aiming to find transients such as supernovae. The phrases Pan-STARRS MDS and HST MDS are used to distinguish the two.
