Mazurek's law
(the effect of tweaking parameters is counterbalanced by feedback)
Mazurek's law is a colloquial name for a phenomena,
in a similar spirit to Murphy's law. It specifically
says that if you attempt to get a qualitative change in the
outcome of a core collapse supernova model, tweaking
parameters won't yield a qualitative difference because feedback
from the interacting processes largely counterbalances the effect. It is
attributed to astrophysicist Ted Mazurek, at Stony Brook in the 1980s.
The law has come to be cited for any astrophysical phenomena when
such "feedback" modeling-challenges arise.
