mass transport

(transfer of mass from one part of a body/disk to another)

The term mass transport is used to indicate the shift of mass in a gravitationally-bound set of objects from one place within it to another. An example is matter moving inward or outward in a circumstellar disk or galaxy. The term is also used in the Earth-sciences, e.g., regarding material moved by the flow of water.
