Lynds Catalog of Dark Nebulae
(or Catalog of Dark Nebulae, abbreviated LDN or sometimes L)
is a list assembled by Beverly Lynds in the 1950s-1960s of
dark nebulae found on plates of the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS).
Among them are clouds currently under study regarding
star formation, such as LDN 1689.
