Infrared Survey Facility
(IRSF)
(140-cm reflector telescope that images in infrared)
The Infrared Survey Facility (IRSF)
is a 140-centimeter telescope
at the Sutherland Observing Station of the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO),
that images at three infrared wavelengths
(essentially the JHK passbands).
It was originally developed for the
Magellanic Clouds Survey,
and has also contributed to the Two Micron All-sky Survey (2MASS).
