Illinois 400-Foot Radio Telescope

(1960s cylindrical telescope)

The Illinois 400-Foot Radio Telescope was a cylindrical radio telescope located at Vermilion River Radio Observatory (VRO) near Danville in eastern Illinois. It had a north-south cylindrical axis and used phase to vary the beam toward the north or south. It was built in 1959 and used until 1969.
