IDL

(Interactive Data Language)
(interactive vector-oriented programming language)

IDL (for Interactive Data Language) is an interactive/programming language designed for handling scientific numerical data. It is somewhat modeled on 1970s FORTRAN, but is interactive and supports arithmetic expressions operating on vectors (one-dimensional arrays) of data, handling these efficiently. It includes facilities for graphical display of data.
