heliosheath

(region just beyond the heliosphere)

The heliosheath is the region just beyond the heliosphere where the solar wind has already slowed to subsonic speed (the region of slowing termed the heliosphere's termination shock) and is interacting with the interstellar medium, about 80 to 100 AU at its closest. The Voyager spacecrafts have reached it and passed it, reaching and passing the heliopause, which could be considered the outer edge of the heliosheath.
