The term gas streamer describes gas observed to be moving in a stream; e.g., moving away from a galaxy. A common case is such a stream leading away from an active galactic nucleus (AGN) or black hole, and example being a gas stream eclipsing the center of galaxy NGC 5548. The term has also been used for a gas stream within the Local Group, which is not associated with an AGN.
