DENIS (for
Deep Near Infrared Survey of the Southern Sky)
was a survey of the entire southern sky
covering three near-infrared bands:
- Gunn-i - centered on 0.82 μm.
- J - centered on 1.25 μm.
- K - centered on 2.16 μm.
Surveying was carried out from 1996 to 2001
on the 1-meter ESO Schmidt Telescope.
