Colibrì
(planned Canadian X-ray space telescope)
Colibrì is a proposed Canadian X-ray space telescope,
in planning for a 2032 launch.
Its an angular resolution would be 6 arcseconds and its
photon energy resolution (essentially, spectral resolution)
would reach 1 electron volt (using transition edge sensors).
Note that the name Colibri (which is the name of a hummingbird
species) is used for other space- and astronomy-related projects:
- A 1.3-m robotic (ground) telescope in Mexico, which began operation in 2024, to carry out transient (gamma-ray burst) follow-up, able to repoint within 20 seconds.
- A CubeSat to under development at Universidad Panamerica in Mexico City, aiming to measure atmospheric density at low Earth orbit, of interest for
- A Russian educational project producing a nanosatellite (aka Colibri-S) to carry out radio communication and Earth sensing.
