Calar Alto Observatory (Observatorio de Calar Alto)
is an observatory on the mountain, Calar Alto
in Andalusia, Spain. Telescopes include:
- 3.5-meter.
- 2.2-meter.
- 1.5-meter, operated by the Observatory of Madrid.
- 1.23-meter.
- 0.8-meter Schmidt telescope.
Among the instruments is CARMENES on the 3.5-meter telescope,
a dual-channel (near-infrared and optical)
spectrograph, designed to discover extra-solar planets orbiting
M dwarfs using the radial velocity method.
