beam combiner
(optical device to combine the two EMR beams)
A beam combiner is a device to combine two different
beams of visible light (or other electromagnetic radiation). One use
within astronomy is as the central device of an optical interferometer,
to combine beams such that useful, measurable interference
results. The resulting data reveals hints about the observation-target's
morphology, and with enough such data, images can be derived.
