bathymetry
(study and measurement of sea depths)
Bathymetry is the study (e.g., measurement) of the depths of bodies
of water. Such measurement has significance on
solar system moons that have lakes or oceans,
even if subsurface. The term is sometimes used
for analogous study of bodies of liquids other than water, e.g.,
methane seas on Titan.
