amine
(type of compound containing nitrogen)
An amine is a compound that includes nitrogen
and is like ammonia (NH3) except that in place
of each of one or more of the three hydrogen atoms is
a group of atoms,
each group essentially consisting of "most of a hydrocarbon".
Amino acids are examples of amines.
(Whether ammonia itself should be called the simplest amine
is a matter of semantics.)
