AMEGO-X

(All-sky Medium-Energy Gamma-ray Observatory Explorer)
(planned gamma-ray space observatory)

AMEGO-X (for All-sky Medium-Energy Gamma-ray Observatory Explorer) is a concept for a gamma-ray space observatory It would sense the 100 keV to 1 GeV photon energy range, over a wide field, observing the entire sky several times a day. The primary mission would be three years. Its instruments are a gamma-ray detector that detects the direction and energy of each photon, and an anti-coincidence detector. The was proposed in 2021 as a NASA MIDEX mission, but was not accepted. Development of the plan has continued, aiming to propose it as a future mission.
